And just when you thought the Faith in New England was dead... St. John's, the seminary of the Archdiocese of Boston, has nearly doubled its enrollment. A very heartening story, though I still fear it may be too late to save many of the presently threatened parishes in the Bay State.
This, courtesy of GalliaWatch. Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, has proven himself a true Catholic prince. He has refused to sign a law which would legalize euthanasia. Unfortunately, the elected government is simply planning to remove his power to do so, rendering his signature unnecessary. The conduct of Europe's remaining Catholic princes in recent years has been an argument for monarchy in itself; about twenty years ago, the King of Belgium, of all ungodly lands, did the same thing regarding an abortion bill. Please pray for Grand Duke Henri, and that Catholics without the blood royal may also conduct themselves with such bravery.

I hate to hear about him losing his power, but it also shows that it wasn't just an empty gesture. He had something to lose yet risked it in order to be true to the Faith. God bless him.
Ah, Leslie... You and your comments about heathen and ungodly lands... If God and Jesus would read that...
In both the Old and New Testament, God speaks of various cities and nations as particularly sinful or in need of repentance (Sodom, Ninive, Israel). While we should avoid judging individuals, criticizing a state as a body does not fall under the same category. If Belgium (or Oregon) does not want to be a heathen land, then its government shouldn't pass heathen laws.
Good response, Crusader! *applause*
And Amen, Rob - God bless the Grand Duke! It must have taken a lot of courage to refuse to sign the bill.
Surely the last Beatitude can be applied to the Grand Duke and the King of Belgium: "Blessed are you when men insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you for My name's sake; Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
-If God and Jesus would read that-
They would say, "Hey, that sounds like us!"
And what's this 'God and Jesus' stuff? Are you an Arian? Don't you believe in the divinity of Christ? Or is he just a nice guy for you?
Thank you once again, you're very kind.
